How we got here

From the São Paulo countryside to artificial intelligence in agriculture.

OagronomIA grew out of the story of Dr. Guilherme Sanches, the grandson of Italians and of coffee growers from Pirajuí, a town of 22,000 people in the São Paulo countryside. Living close to farm life from an early age, he developed a passion for agriculture.

After an academic career in precision agriculture, data and artificial intelligence, he wanted to turn that knowledge into solutions for real problems in the field: first with Cropman, in 2018, and, from 2024, with IA para Agrônomos (AI for Agronomists), which started as content and training and grew into a movement.

The project grew, matured and became OagronomIA (agriculture in the world of AI) and the agrônomo10X community, where AI stops being a topic of conversation and becomes a working tool.

From Pirajuí to Campinas
Guilherme leaves the São Paulo countryside to study Agricultural Engineering at the University of Campinas (Unicamp).
2012
Agricultural engineer
Bachelor’s degree from the School of Agricultural Engineering (FEAGRI) at Unicamp.
2014
Master’s degree
Master’s at Unicamp, always combining precision agriculture and data.
2018
PhD and Cropman
PhD in Bioenergy (Unicamp, USP and Unesp) and the founding of Cropman, an agtech company for AI-based soil diagnostics.
2021
Postdoc
Postdoctoral research at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP).
2022
AI and Big Data
MBA in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data at the Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (ICMC/USP).

He has combined precision agriculture, data and artificial intelligence since his undergraduate studies at Unicamp. He founded Cropman, an agtech company for AI-based soil diagnostics, in 2018 and, in 2024, IA para Agrônomos, which became OagronomIA.
